Course Description
This course introduces the student to the general principles and nature of the liturgy. As an introductory course, it deals with the definition of the liturgy, and clarifies the difference between liturgy and pious devotions, it outlines various practices that constitute liturgy and gives a brief history of the development of liturgy. It also deals with the sources of liturgy, the Liturgy of the Hours as Liturgy, the Liturgical year, the Eucharist as liturgical action and the components of the liturgy.
